For this project, I wanted to break the convention of how swimsuits are usually presented. We explored the contrast of bringing this summer piece to life in an urban setting to highlight its versatility.

Swimwear brands peak in sales from spring to summer, but it's crucial to maintain visibility year-round. I wanted to show that swimwear can be worn in a more edgy, urban context, not just on sunny beaches.

So, we shot on a not-so-sunny day, with New York City as the backdrop—proving that style serves the individual, wherever they are. A swimsuit isn’t just a summer piece—it truly comes to life when worn. It’s not about the garment, but how the wearer brings it to life—how they define it.
These photos were shot for Veroni Swim, a sustainable swimwear brand made in NYC by Iro Kalemi.
